We had dinner at Rob and Sarah Whitmore's house last night for Christmas eve. The dinner was amazing, thank you guys so much. There were several children there and Ava was the youngest but she held her own. It was great to be around friends and have such a wonderful feast!
We had a wonderful Christmas morning with a beautiful Nevada sunrise. Ava opened her presents from both sets of grandparents and her uncle John while on the web cam. She loves all of her presents. Thanks everyone!
We had our first snow in Fallon on Friday. Josh even got a snow day! We ended up getting about four inches. I got Ava all bundled up and her and Josh went and played in the snow...for about 15 minutes. Josh did build a snow man after Ava came inside! Cash was loving it.
I was online looking at baby recipes for Ava and came across the idea of a teething feeder. Ava has been kind of crabby the past couples days and I think it's because of her teeth. Her gums are very swollen on top. I went right out and found one at Wal-mart put some frozen apples in there and she went to town! She just loved it.
We had our first outting as a family in Fallon today. We drove about an hour east to a little hole in the wall place called Middlegate Station. They are known for their burgers and they were awesome! About five minutes up the road is what they call the Shoe Tree. It's basically a tree off the main road full of shoes. And yes it does smell awful!
Grandma Barb came in from outside and was shivering telling Ava it was "brrr so cold." Ava picked it right up and started shivering too! We were dying laughing. She is such a mocking bird!
I went hunting with Katrina's brothers Brian and Darren on Thanksgiving morning. It was about 20° outside, but Brian's blind kept us out of the wind. We were looking for geese, but had a few gadwall come near. It was an awesome way to start the day!
Ava and I, along with Josh's parents, met Josh in Annapolis this past weekend for one last football game before we head west. It was so great seeing all our friends, most of them had never met Ava. Ava was such a trooper all weekend. We had such a great time!
Josh surprised Ava and I this past weekend! He flew in late Thursday night and left early this morning. He told me he was going to the movies and then he just showed up. Ava definitely knew her daddy and they were inseparable all weekend. I think she might be a daddy's girl!
Ava has started the great adventures of picking up food and putting it in her mouth. Which means she now picks up everything on the floor and puts it in her mouth! She loves bananas and I have been cutting them up and letting her do it herself. Well tonight she was in a particularly feisty mood and started to smoosh the bananas in her hands! She got such a kick out of it so I let her smoosh all her dinner in her hands. Too cute!
A little delayed but close. On Sunday we took all of my nieces and nephews to the Legends for some trick-or-treating. It was very crowded to say the least. I'm not sure about everyone else, but I know I had fun!
I had my last flight in VAW-123 today as we flew home to Norfolk from the USS Enterprise. Next week the movers come for our stuff and I will officially check out of the squadron. I am ready to move to Nevada and be with my girls again. It's been a wonderful three years!
