Nesting
I've had such a great urge lately to sew and be crafty. Some might call it my "nesting" phase. I've always loved to sew and be crafty but never had such an overwhelming urge!
I received a great gift from one of the wives in Josh's squadron that inspired me to make one. They are called taggies or lovies. Basically it's a small blanket that has a bunch of tags on all sides for the child to hold and chew on our love on. I used flannel on one side and minky on the other. I'm afraid it might be a bit girly, but could be a great gift if we do have a boy. Either way I think it's adorable!

Key West
I just got back from three weeks of work in Key West. The flying was great, and the food was even better. Here are some pictures.

Me with Cotton and Tuna.

There are wild chickens everywhere. This fellow was at Blue Heaven Restaurant.

The gang watching Navy beat Army for the eighth straight time.

On the beach.

Flying over the island.

The Fly Navy building where we stayed.

Billy Currington gave a free concert at Sloppy Joe's.

Meat Pie downtown.

Getting ready to fly.

Minestrone Soup and a Nor'easter
The weather took a turn for the worse as the nor'easter battered Norfolk. Fortunately I got the day off! Josh was on duty so he had to go in to work off and on all day. When he got home we made minestrone soup. I got the recipe the recipe from our friend Cathy Lanning. It was amazing! I've attached the recipe so everyone can enjoy.
MINESTRONE SOUP
from Cathy Lanning

1/4 lb. each: ham-diced, bacon-pieces & spicy Italian sausage (you can always add extra)
1 clove garlic-chopped
1 onion, chopped
2 celery stalks, diced
1 zucchini, sliced
1 leek - white only
pinch allspice
8 (10 3/4 oz.) cans chicken broth
1 (27oz) can kidney beans-undrained
1 pkg. frozen chopped spinach
1 c. red wine
1 (20oz) can tomatoes
1/2 c. elbow macaroni or slightly more (uncooked)
1 Tbl. basil
Brown meats with garlic. Add and simmer the onion, celery, zucchini, leek & allspice. Add pepper to taste. Then add chicken broth, kidney beans, spinach & wine - simmer 1 1/2 hrs. Finally add the tomatoes & macaroni and cook 15 mins. Soup can be frozen now, but before serving add the basil. Serve with Parmesan cheese.

Third Trimester
Today marks the 28th week of my pregnancy, which is the beginning of my third trimester. Time flies!
We spent some time in the baby's room this weekend rearranging the closet and taking down all the pictures. It's starting to come together now.
I just realized that I hadn't posted any pictures of the changing table since my mother and I painted it. I also attached a picture of the knobs so you can see them up close.

Halloween Face
We had a 25 week sonogram yesterday. Everything looks great! In one of the pictures you can actually see the baby's face..it looks like a Halloween face. I am not going to label them this time..see you if you can figure it out!! I also am posting a picture of my belly, its not a very good one but at lease you can see that my belly has grown quite a bit since the last picture. I know there is a long ways to go though.
I also want to thank everyone for a great weekend. It was so good to come home and see everyone! The showers were amazing. We are so lucky to have such a supportive family. I will be posting pictures of the showers soon.

Josh is Home!
Josh got home from California late Friday night. We woke up early on Saturday and drove to Annapolis for the Navy vs. Air Force game. We had such a great time tailgating with our friends. The game was an overtime thriller, but in the end, Navy won for the seventh year in a row.

Josh right after Air Force tied the game to send it to overtime. So grumpy!!

Week 21 Sonogram!
My mom came in town this weekend to join me for my second sonogram. She had actually never seen a real sonogram. It was so cool! The pictures are below. The first one is so cute. You can see the baby's facial profile. We had a wonderful weekend filled with eating and shopping. But we did manage to get a little work done. We sanded and painted the changing table. Pictures will be coming soon once the new hardware comes in the mail! It turned out awesome.
